Valerie M. Bourne, MSW, RSW
Valerie Bourne, MSW, RSW, was born and raised in Ancaster on the Niagara escarpment, site of the ancestral lands of the Six Nations of the Grand River. Since 2000, she has provided individual therapy and onsite critical incident response at workplaces across the province through her private practice in the Beaches, Toronto.
Qualifying in EMDR in 2008, Valerie has EMDRIA Certification and is active as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-process. She attends every EMDR Canada conference, countless advanced EMDRIA trainings and has many hilarious memories while on the Board of EMDR Canada (membership, conference, regional coordinators). She acknowledges her honourary membership at the Truth and Reconciliation IRS Closing events in Ottawa in 2015, on the francophone team. Her current focus is advancing support to former classmates of residential and boarding schools and all their relations, as well as Murdered, Missing Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-spirited, while creating the makings of a book on the intersection of trauma in Asian medicine, Western science and ancient indigenous wisdom.
