EMDR Self-Care Traumatic Episode Protocol (STEP)

The accessibility of EMDR therapy is often limited by the availability to in-person treatment. This workshop presents a new practical group application of a computerized modified version of the G-TEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol) called STEP (Self-Care Traumatic Episode Protocol). The computer adapted, clinician assisted version is a simplified utilization for self-care which was developed during the Covid-19 pandemic. STEP will be taught using a PowerPoint presentation, video, self-practice with a discussion following practice. STEP has been found to increase self-efficacy while decreasing stress, depression, and anxiety in mental health clinicians in the context of Covid-19.

Learning Objectives:

  • To identify and comprehend key features and concepts of STEP.
  • To experience the procedures of the STEP protocol.
  • To evaluate the utility of the STEP for interventions on a larger scale.
